I am going to review the book FLAWED BY CECELIA AHERN. I would rate it 5 out of 5 stars because it is a fantastic book to read. It gave me chills and I had a great time reading it. Tears welled up in my eyes the time Celestine was being seared (burnt) to imprint the F mark of being Flawed.
The Narrator
The Protagonist (narrator) is a young girl named Celestine North being the perfect girl falls in the bore of shame and hatred from society for supporting a flawed old man. In one go she is badged from the perfect girl to become the most flawed person.
She decided to take a stand that cost her everything.
About the book
Hugely accessible, emotionally resonant, and with a character who will seize the hearts of anyone who meets her, this is the ideal book for anyone who has ever felt the pressure to be perfect.
Flawed Concept
The concept of the world is shown in the book which is Dystopian (relating to or denoting an imagined state or society where there is great suffering or injustice). Celestine encounters a situation that is against the rule of the Flawed Court and for the one mistake she faces life-changing repercussions. She is seared and is a disgrace to society.
Character
There is a wonderful character development that one can not even believe when they look back to the first chapter, then come back to the last chapter. The change is amazing. This is an interesting read, my dear fellow readers.
The other people trying so hard to be perfect and lowering the standards of the flawed people are real idiots.
The Flawed Court
The Guild, the head is judge Crevan, originally set up a temporary public inquiry into wrongdoing, is now a permanent fixture that oversees the inquisition of individuals accused of being Flawed. The Flawed are regular citizens who have made moral or ethical mistakes. Their skin is seared with the F brand in one of the five places.
Places in body
- For bad judgment, it’s their temple;
- For lying, it’s their tongue;
- For stealing from society, it’s their right palm;
- For disloyalty to the Guild, it’s their chest, over their heart;
- For stepping out of line with society, it is the sole of their right foot.
Message
None of us are perfect. Let us not pretend that we are, not be afraid that we are not, and let us not label others and pretend we are not the same. Also, let us all know that to be human is to be flawed, and learn from every mistake made so that we do not make them again.
It was great to see how Celestine was able to put into question the whole system. There is a second part of the book named Perfect which is in fact a more interesting read.
