The story spectacularly narrated by John Green in the book Turtles All The Way Down, makes reader ponder over the significance of one’s life.

The protagonist Aza Holmes living in Indianapolis, suffers from a disease named OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) constantly battles in her own mind, mused within her own thoughts and struggles.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

OCD is a mental illness in which a person experiences unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, sensations and behaviors that drives him/her crazy.

The continuous thought process she experiences is itself a struggle for her. She is often mused within her own thoughts and struggles with extreme anxiety problems.

Aza and her best friend Daisy seeks to solve a mystery of a billionaire Russell Pickett who has vanished without any trace. Davis is the son of the Russell. He and Aza shared a beautiful bond within them. He dealt with her meticulously that would touch every reader’s heart.

Aza guessed the whereabouts of the Russell Pickett. Daisy and Aza once went to the art gallery show which was uniquely showcased. They went there with a friend named Mychal whose marvelous painting was a part of the gallery. The tunnel was the unfinished project of Russell’s company.

The tunnel was 200 yards long. The paintings were featured on the walls of the tunnel. The end was open and unfinished- the tiny trickle of water that was supposed to be diverted from the river named White River was instead dripping down into it.

Indianapolis is so flat one can never really look down on it, and that moment they experienced a million-dollar views. The meaning of the title of the book “Turtles All The Way Down” can be drawn from this.

Significance of the Title Turtles All The Way Down

In the book Daisy shares a story of a scientist explaining the history of earth and life on it. Here, an old lady blurts out the belief of earth being flat plane resting on the back of a giant turtle. And that turtle is standing upon the shell of another giant turtle.

It is turtles all the way down

The significance is “The world is billions of years old, and life is a product of nucleotide mutation and everything but the world is also the stories we tell about it. It also signifies

You never really find answers, just new and deeper questions

Aza said, “The problem with happy endings is that they’re either not really happy, or not really endings, in real life, some things get better and some things get worse and eventually you die”.

Aza learned that whatever might be the situation anyway life goes on. Within so much of mind anxiety Aza has learned things to manifest in her life. She thought to herself “I am still at the beginning. I could still be anything”.

This book gives readers insightful teachings of the life. Even if the billionaire died in the end of the tunnel he left behind such beautiful scenery to spot under the city. There can’t be a single logic always. It can have certain other possibilities because to every end there is a new beginning.

I would definitely recommend the book “the Turtles All The Way Down” if someone interests in learning how a mind gets worse over time and gradually gets better depending on the circumstances.
